There's a brand new border collie puppy snoozing right in front of the air conditioner. He's managed to find the coolest place in the house to collapse- jewels to the air and comatose. I'm watching him have his puppy dreams and considering finishing off the last of my Manischewitz Elderberry wine or have a shot of Crown Royal before bed. Tomorrow is another exciting day at AccuWeather as I transition from the department I've spent almost two years with to a new one with a completely different atmosphere. These new clean sheets are cool and inviting, the down-filled pillows and mounds of quilts make the humid July air outside a distant sensation. It feels more like my prefered autumn evening as I snuggle in to incubate tomorrow's possibilities.
My Ideal Person:
Ideal, huh? Alright then. Firstly, don't let the superficial stuff make you feel disqualified. That stuff isn't on the checklist. It's more like a wishlist. Secondly, the kind of men that I find myself with are reminiscent of the phrase, "Still waters run deep." While there's a great deal to be said about reservation, I'm tired of that. Quiet guys, I know you love bouncey vibrant women like me, and God Bless ya for it, but I want someone who's going to take initiative at least as much as I do. Think Nightcrawler from the X-Men. I've had a crush on that guy since I was twelve years old. Now, but to the wish list:
Radically honest, energetic, bold, sagitarian disposition, open-minded and adventurous about food, sex, and social activities. I get all atwitter over short men! Long hair and green eyes are a plus. Most of the guys I've had wonderful dating experiences with only fit a few of these traits, and since most of the aforementioned traits are superficial, they really are just bonus points tacked on later.
The stuff that's not negotiable is the radical honesty and the open-mindedness. Reliability is also a must. It is absolutely necessary that you show up when and where you say you'll show up. I'd much rather get a call the day before with an explanation than be stood up. That's grounds for dismissal as far as I'm concerned.
My ideal someone needs to be independent, and I mean really independent. Not just financially so, but emotionally so. You need to be able not only to think for yourself, but to be self-entertaining. I'm tired of having fun for two. Possessiveness drives me bonkers, and I in turn make possessive folks crazy. If you can't stand it that I don't call you every time I leave the house, or that most of my friends are male, then I'm not the girl for you.
