Im Amber, a 44yo Big Beautiful Divorced White Gal living in Durham, NC, USA. I dont like to define myself by my weight, but since it is a deal-breaker with so many guys, Ill start out by saying Im 54 and weigh around 230 lbs. Im not particularly buxom or bottom-heavy, just kinda apple-shaped and fluffy. I had weight loss surgery in August of '07 and have lost over 130 lbs from my high weight of 360. I'm still a large woman, but am getting smaller. I doubt if I will ever weigh much less than 200 lbs, but time will tell. I have short, brown hair, hazel eyes, and a great smile. I work as an intensive care nurse, but when I grow up, I'd love to work in creature FX, or computer animation, or maybe study forensic pathology. I am definitely a dog person (have one somewhat neurotic mini schnauzer), though I love most animals. I love to read/watch anything in the horror, sci-fi, fantasy genres. My favorite movies include Matrix, Stardust, From Dusk til Dawn, Raising Arizona, Snatch, Fight Club, and the Princess Bride. I spend way too much money on books and they can be found in great drifts all over my apartment. Some of my favorite authors include Neil Gaiman, Christopher Moore, and Chuck Palahniuk. Im a sucker for geeky stuff like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. I listen to an eclectic range of music, ranging from bluegrass to heavy metal, but tend to prefer alternative rock. If you are familiar with or enjoy Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, Elbow, Doves, Sheila Divine, Pernice Brothers, Ben Folds, etc, that will certainly earn you points in my book. I collect dragons and antique cameras. I dabble in art and photography, and play piano (badly). I was married once a long time ago but never had children. Having spent time with my brother's six kids, I find I don't have much patience for kids under six. Sure, they're great to play with, but when they start to whine, I break out the sedatives (for me, not them!). I dont really cook or keep a spotless home, so if youre looking for the dutiful hausfrau, thats not really me! I have a quick and somewhat bizarre sense of humor, appreciating both the whimsical and truly morbid in life. I am kind-hearted, sentimental, romantic, while at the same time, capable of great cynicism, sarcasm, and pessimism. I tend to be sweet and shy, but can be very passionate and hot-tempered at times. I can often be overheard cursing like a sailor. I enjoy sex a lot, but that may just be a peri-menopausal attribute. I am adventurous in the bedroom, eager to please, and will try most things at least once. What's not to love?!
What I'm In Search Of... Things that I find most attractive in a man are intelligence and a warped sense of humor. I am an introvert, so I prefer a partner who is extroverted to draw me out and make sure I don't become a recluse. I would appreciate someone who can motivate me to take better care of myself, eat healthier, exercise, and just get out and live! You should be spontaneous and adventurous, liberal-minded, slow to anger, and generous with your time and affection. I prefer a single or divorced Caucasian guy, 38-55yo. Ideally, you would be within couple hours drive of Raleigh, NC, but I would definitely travel for the right fellow. It would be helpful if you are attracted to larger women. I'd rather not further injure my self-esteem by being with a man who is merely willing to settle for a less-than-thin woman. I would like to be with someone who is not ashamed to be seen with me in public. Having said that, however, in the end the important things are personality and compatibility. I know the right man is out there, but Ive given up on one knocking on my door and sweeping me off my feet. So look out boys, Im leaving my den in search of fresh meat!
