My Ideal Person
From what I’ve read here, few seem to think that this space is big enough or can even begin to convey what they are looking for….. I disagree. Let me show you.

This is a story that I run in my mind time and time again.

Close your eyes tight and let the movie play in your mind…….

While visiting a girlfriend’s apartment, imagine a woman walking out to a balcony, overlooking the shore. Potted flowers and small tropical plants surround her on each side. She grasps the railing as she looks out over the water; the warm summer breeze is blowing in her hair. She’s in that dress, you know the one. It’s not too elegant, maybe it’s black, maybe it’s cream with a favorite print. It’s just casual enough to show her best features, without giving too much away. It’s nearly sunset and the golden sun is setting, still projecting streaks of warm rays. She tries to step in their way, but the sun shinning through the palm trees blinds her if she looks directly into it. She steps back to enjoy the view; the beach is wonderful at this time of year. Yes, she’s in paradise.

With that feeling she remembers that she has to be somewhere, and the thought makes her laugh inside; She turns to her girlfriend, who looks in her eyes. Although some time ago, her friend knows that glow when she sees it. The girlfriend hugs her and says goodbye. She runs downstairs and out the door to the walking path along the shore. She almost runs, she has so much energy – but she has to restrain her composure. As she turns the corner, she sees him. She feels his pleasure in seeing her with the smile on his face; as they embrace the feeling is mutual. Most of the evening is dinner and drinks and partaking in hours of conversation in everything under the sun – traveling, stupid jokes, music, politics, interior design, philosophy, pop-culture…. it doesn’t matter, she’s so comfortable, she’s uninhibited. She finally grabs his hand and leads him out of the restaurant and towards the beach; that seems like the best way to finish off. They stroll along and hold hands, she has her shoes in her hands; he’s done the same.

The bay is lit up with fluorescent boat lights and the reflection from the city. But it’s not too bright; by sitting in the sand and looking up the sky, they see the stars. The moon gives that little extra light she needs to see the features on his face. She flirts by pretending to look away over the water, while really waiting to see him turn to concentrate on her. He observes that unforgettable smile on her face as he keeps talking. They are fascinated by each other. Just being together is more entertainment than each one knows what to do with. She can’t wait any longer; finally she turns and kisses him. The only thing she hears are the waves crashing on the shore. The only thing she feels are warm lips and the night air blowing over her legs. She rests her head on his shoulder as she hangs around his neck, once again laughing at one of his sarcastic remarks. This scene ends with them both sitting together side by side facing the shore.

At that moment she remembers why she was giggling earlier - she’s found that someone special in her life. And this time she knows it’s forever and he’s not going anywhere. She exhales with a deep sigh… the search has ended.

Now imagine that woman…. See her in your mind……….the happiness in her eyes, the uncontrollable smile on her face. Her joy almost makes anyone observing her either envious or curious.

Now imagine one last thing……………… Imagine it's you.

I believe that in life there is a fine line between real life and fantasy; and they can come together on a day to day basis with the right person. The only thing stopping us is our disbelief that this can't happen to us. Well there’s only one way to find out.
