Why am I here? Sep 21, 2005 7:44 pm

Why am I here?
Is it for happy hour (and beer)?
I just couldn't resist
That was on today's list.
The reason I'm asking this question today,
Is that I felt down.
What else can I say.
But, as I write this poem, I think
I'm here on this earth
For more than a drink.
I'm here to see
The sun rise and set
And paint what I see
So I will not forget.
The sky vibrant with colors intense,
The outlines of trees, houses and fence.
It fills me with awe, that I'm here on this earth.
And that's why I'm here
To appreciate it's worth.

Note: And to share the beauty with others.

Finally went went to the studio Sep 20, 2005 7:10 pm

Well, tonight I finally stopped procrastinating and went to my ceramic sculpure studio to work on some more pieces for the October 9th event. I should have been working on †his for the past 2 weeks, but didn't feel like it. I guess I'm just another moody artist.

My friend and fellow artist, Teresa, had been out of town this week, and I suppose I didn't want to work there alone, although I do sometimes. It was good to work and talk together. She was sculpting a female form and for some reason was dissatisfied with the pose. It was then that she pulled the head and face forward the elongated the clay. She ended up making the figure into the shape of a wave. It was very interesting. Some of her best work comes out of her frustration.

Most of my work has been painting on clay. After this October event, I'm going to do more sculptural pieces. I only have to think of a subject that interests me. I have always had a fascination with mythological beings and may pursue that as subject material.

Just another Monday Sep 19, 2005 5:42 pm

This Monday was kind of laid back. I suppose I was tired from the week-end. Sunday I tired myself out by doing the household chores and taking a long walk.

Work was boring and while I was doing my job, I had a chance to contemplate my Friday evening date. He's the kind of person who seems to know what I'm thinking (this can be good or bad). Only time will tell. Then, as the day wore on, I think I planned the next ten years of my life (just kidding). Although, I did plan dinner.

Tonight, my son and I had dinner and watched "Darby O' Gill and The Little People". That was a favorite growing up and it brought back memories. I never grow tired of Disney films and it doesn't matter how old I am. There was a good screen bio and interview with Sean Connery on the DVD. In the interview, Connery said he was apprehensive about his singing. Hey, James Bond is swave no matter what he does!

I'll post another painting. Hope ya like it.

This title refers to the character from the movie "The Stand". I'm sitting here typing while my sons and their friend are watching this.

Last night I went and saw "The Possession of Emily Rose." It happened to be the only feature that hadn't yet started at the movie complex. It creeped me out a little bit, so I had a bit of trouble falling asleep.

Later this evening, I'll have to watch something fluffy so I can lighten my mood.

And now ...Friday! Sep 16, 2005 3:22 pm

Well here we are at TGIF. I could have volunteered to work Saturday, but suffered from lackowanna. It was so humid in there today, all I could do to keep myself going til the end was to promise myself I would get an orange dreamsicle milkshake when it was all over. I told a few of my co-workers and they thought it was a good idea too. I'm surprised I didn't see a few of them at the stand.

When I got home, I heard from my friend who was in Mississippi with his guard unit. He and I will be going out tonight and I hope everything goes OK. This is only my second date. He doesn't have a blog (at least none that I know of).

Out of the men I've met from the personals, he seems like the most normal or well balanced (dare I say that?)

I'll be sending another photo of my artwork. The pictures will be here, until I run out.

Thursday, the day before Friday Sep 15, 2005 5:16 pm

It's funny that this evening I'm grateful that Thursday is almost over, and tomorrow is Friday. Today was not eventful, even though I had a 4 hour conversation with the co-worker who had an interest in going out. He worked OT at the end of his shift and (gosh) somehow ended up at my work station.

He is very nice and I think he needs a friend (probably more, but I don't know if I can go that route).

Well anyway, got home and decided to take a nap and later send out for pizza.

Hopefully my next entry will be sizzling with excitement! Yawnnnn

Well, another hot day at the factory. The morning started out kinda cool, but that all changes quickly once you start working. Even in the winter, it's still a bit warm. You can wear summer clothes all year round, except if the press location is near one of the doors.

When I went to my assigned press, I was greeted by a man from the 3rd shift, who had hinted he was interested in going out. When he approached the subject last week, I was startled when he said "someone told me you were separated and may be interested in going out." My response was "who told you that?" I had never spoken more than a few words now and then, and didn't even know his name. He had been kind enough to make me some inserts (packing material) to help out. I apologized for being abrupt with him and we talked for awhile (and he introduced himself). He is kind of short, but then so am I.

When I got home, my husband offered to fix dinner. He visits me from time to time. We are still friends, even through all that's happened.

Later, I heard from a friend of mine, who is with his National Guard unit in Mississippi. I'm glad he is well and hope to see him in a few weeks.

So, the day has been tiring, but not boring.

I am adding another painting to tonight's entry

Monday, Monday..... Sep 12, 2005 4:50 pm

Can't trust that day... or so the song goes. I'm always more blah on Monday. Of course, last week I had a 3 day weekend, so Tuesday became Monday. Well, enough of this!

Days at the factory are usually boring, but I can accept that. I was just irritated by some of my fellow workmates (the ones that don't work and expect you to pick up the slack). The high point was when the clock hit 3:30 and it was time to punch out (Yabba Dabba Doo!)

It was pretty hot today, so it felt good to open my door and have the air-conditioning hit. I relaxed for a bit and went online for awhile. Then after 5, I wondered what to make for dinner. Being of practical mind, I decided to finnish left overs that I knew my sons would never eat, mainly vegtable side dishes.

I have less than a month to get ready for the October 9th craft fair and have only made a few items. Better get busy, but tomorrow is another day.

Another fun weekend Sep 11, 2005 3:20 pm

Saturday is usually my day to crash and so, that's what I did. My younger son made me an offer I couldn't refuse (by the way The Godfather is one of our favourite films). He treated me to lunch at one of the local restaurants.

When I got home, I did laundry and dishes while playing Married With Children DVD set (4th season). It's a stupid show, but I was in that kind of mood and it makes me laugh.

I had someone new pop up on my Yahoo IM. He started by sounding like a normal person until we got around to my question "What are you looking for in a woman?" I shouldn't have asked. His answer was "large tits and ass". I told him that I didn't think I was the woman he was looking for and he asked why. My gut response would have been "becuz you ain't go no class!" However I replied that I did not have a large ass and I was not looking only for sex. He left after that (I wasn't upset).

I'm finding out that most of the men who answer the personals are either old men looking for company or younger men who want hot older women. I have found one person that I think I like (who is somewhere in-between) It makes me think that most men just don't know how to talk to women.

Today, I thought I might be meeting one of the men I chatted with, however he did not confirm any plans, so I went out for a walk with a friend of mine, Teresa, and she showed me where she takes her kids (2 dogs) for walks. It was a beauiful morning and we went to Swan Harbour Farm for a walk through the pumpkin patch. I laughed when that's where she said she went for walks. The trail goes through the patch and borders on the woods going past the water (Chesapeake Bay). It's length is about a mile.

After the walk, we went to the Duck Decoy festival in town and got a snack. This plus the walk lightened my mood.

Anytime I go outdoors for a walk it helps me to unwind and forget some of life's little dissappointments.

I'm in the middle of fixing Sunday dinner, so I'm signing off. I'll probably watch a movie and finish laundry (and get ready for another day at the sweat shop!)

I'm trying to post one of my paintings.

Another Fascinating Day at the Plant Sep 9, 2005 8:02 pm

Hello. This is my first entry in this journal. Today wasn't too fabulous. I work in a plasics factory and was really put out by the performance of the secondary machinery whose sensors are desperately in need of repair. I think I used every four-letter word I know talking to the machine (I don't talk to people like that!). It felt good to vent. My co-worker couldn't believe that those words came out of my mouth. She got a good laugh our of that.

Best moment of the day: Took my son out for Happy Hour at the local pub. TGIF
